August 2015 Library Workshops

The following LIVE online workshops are available in August to all Brown Mackie College students, faculty, and staff. These workshops are hosted by Brown Mackie College’s Ask Today On Call Library Service. All workshops are approximately 45-60 minutes in length.

Note: Users must register prior to the workshop. Registration is simple—click on the link under the title of the workshop you wish to attend and follow the prompts. Attendees at the live workshops receive a certificate of completion.


Literati by Credo ~ Sunday, 8/2 @ 4 PM CST (2 PM PT)

Are you addicted to using Wikipedia? Do you Google before you think? If either of the above two things apply to you, then be sure to attend this informative session on the library resource, Literati by Credo, otherwise known as the "legitimate Wikipedia." Everything from doing basic searches to topic pages to the mind map will be covered.

Totally lost when it comes to the Online Library? We recommend attending this Online Library Orientation training session. This session is hosted by library staff and provides an introduction to everything the Brown Mackie College Online Library has to offer.


Microsoft Word 2013 – Formatting APA Research Assignments ~ Monday, 8/10 @ 6 PM CST (4 PM PT)

Microsoft Word 2013 has many features that make properly formatting a research paper for APA very easy. This workshop will explain how to use Word to create a title page, format the document, and create citations and references using APA. NOTE: This workshop will NOT describe the concepts of APA documentation in detail!

Primal Pictures - New Library Resource! ~ Tuesday, 8/11 @ 1:30 PM CST (11:30 AM PT)

Primal Pictures is a brand new library resource and is a great new addition to the online library. It offers users everything from 3D anatomical structures to clinical slides to dissections and much more. This webinar will offer users a general overview of this new acquisition.

Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) – New Library Resource! ~ Friday, 8/14 @ 12 PM CST (10 AM PT)

This new library resource offers online access to the peer-reviewed general medical journal published by the American Medical Association. This webinar will describe the resource and review how to search it. Note that the library subscription includes all volumes from 1998 to the present.

Kanopy Streaming Video Collections – New Library Resource! ~ Monday, 8/17 @ 4 PM CST (2 PM PT)

The online library has a great new streaming video resource! The Kanopy video collections range in topic from cinematic lighting to fashion to horror film to social issues and more! This webinar will introduce you to these new video collections.

All sessions will be recorded and posted on the Online Library Help & Tutorials page. Please note that in order to receive a certificate of completion you must attend the LIVE workshop.
